Wrong turn for U.S. Army veteran carrying handgun in car may lead to three-year jail term in Canada

What started out as a romantic getaway for a Kentucky couple could land the Army veteran husband in a Canadian jail for three years – and all because of bad GPS directions.

Louis DiNatale, 46, was arrested in September for trying to sneak a handgun into Ontario after he took a wrong turn and wound up on a bridge crossing between New York state and Canada.

The retired Army sergeant, who has a concealed-carry permit in Kentucky, was jailed for four days before he was allowed to post bail – and then only because the judge was a hunting enthusiast who was sympathetic to his plight.
