Firearms deer hunt season ends

by Sea Coast Online  |  published on December 10, 2012

The season for hunting deer in New Hampshire with a firearm closed Sunday at sundown, but archery season remains open for one more week.

New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said it’s been the best deer hunt in five years. Checkpoints on Nov. 25 reported 3 percent more deer were killed than in 2011, as of late November.

Archery hunting for deer and turkey runs through Dec. 15.

Pheasant season continues through the end of December.

Fish and Game officials released 13,000 pheasants into the wild throughout the state prior to the start of the hunt.
