Nebraska firearm advocates push for Second Amendment protection

It’s a controversial issue that’s gotten a lot of attention this year….guns.

Many Nebraskans are hoping to pass an initiative that they say, will protect their Second Amendment rights.

Nebraska firearm advocates are teaming up to back the initiative. It’s based off of Senator Janssen’s gun rights bill that never made it out of committee in 2012.

It’s called the Firearm Right Protection Bill, and gun owners around the state are hoping to see it on the ballot in 2014.

To do so, they’ll need thousands of signatures.

If passed, the bill says Nebraska wouldn’t recognize any new federal gun restrictions put in place after July 1, 2012.
