Magpul and Sub-Contractor Tell CO Lawmakers They Will Leave State if Mag Limit Bill Passes

Magpul and sub-contractor Alfred Manufacturing told the CO lawmakers that they will be relocating their operations out of the state if the magazine capacity limit bill that was debated was signed into law. The bill just passed a voice vote in the CO House moments ago.

Just before the vote, Magpul posted the following to their Facebook page.

A letter from Alred Manufacturing, read during the debate, stated that the Magpul sub-contractor will relocate operations outside of the state should the bill pass.

Lawmakers tried to appease the premier magazine maker in the US by bumping the limit on magazine rounds from 10 to 15 and adding an amendment making it legal to manufacture magazines in CO, just not sell them there.

Not enough for Magpul.

They posted the following on their Facebook page less than an hour ago:

MAGPUL INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES IT WILL LEAVE COLORADO IF GUN BILL PASSES

MOVE WOULD COST STATE 600 JOBS, $85 MILLION

Denver, Colorado – February 15th, 2013 – Magpul Industries, an Erie, Colorado, based manufacturer of firearms accessories, announced today that it will be forced to leave the state if House Bill 1224, which would ban standard capacity magazines, becomes law. The announcement was made to Governor Hickenlooper, state legislators, members of the media, and in a full-page advertisement to appear in the Denver Post on Sunday.
