Gun Purchases Spike Due To Love And Fears

CHARLOTTE, NC – Tis’ the Season to lock and load. Gun buying is on the rise – partly due to holiday purchases and also because of the political climate.

Fears of international weapons treaties, who’s running the federal government and doomsday scenarios has some packing heat.

While President Barack Obama’s re-election boosts gun sales, don’t discount enthusiasts who respect the sport.

“When you have a liberal in the office, you know you have to buy more guns,” said Ryan Romanelli with a smile. “You never know what’s going to happen, just kidding.”

Ryan and Jeff Romanelli joke about buying guns because of who’s in charge of the federal government.

“You never know what’s going to happen with changing times,” said Jeff.

Gun sales are up this year. One reason cited is politics.

“No doubt, election years,” said Tim Wright, owner of American Tactical and Pawn in Shelby, N.C.

Like in 2008, some gun purchases are driven by fears of tighter regulations during a Democratic president’s second term.

But Wright says recreational sport shooting has increased in popularity.

“We help teach the classes for concealed carry here in North Carolina,” said Wright. “And we have as many women as we do men.”
