Hunting to Help the Needy: Donating Deer Meat

Hunting to help

By now even the biggest buck hunters may wonder if there’s anything worth waking up at the crack of dawn, getting camo’ed up, and climbing a tree stand.

“Don’t quit now or give up or think it’s too cold, or it’s about over anyway,” says David Hixon, a hunter and pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church.

“Believe it or not a lot of people here wonder what they’re going to eat tomorrow,” he says.

Judy Wilson of Wilson’s Taxidermy knows about those needs.

“It just kind of amazes you the needs that people have,” she says. “They’ll come to you, people on fixed income, people out of work.”

You can donate processed deer meat directly to Golden Harvest, or can take a full deer to Wilson’s Taxidermy in Langley.
