Following national criticism and concern, “Guns Save Lives Day” has been moved from its original date of Dec. 14, the anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, to Dec. 15 of this year.

Hosted by the Second Amendment Foundation, Guns Save Lives Day is designed to “prevent misguided gun conrol laws” from taking effect and violating second-amendment rights, according to the Guns Save Lives Day website.

Guns Save Lives Day was originally scheduled for Dec. 14, but people in Newtown and around the country called the move insensitive and urged the Second Amendment Foundation to reschedule.

The group responded by changing the date and updating its website, which now reads:

“Guns Save Lives Day is on December 15, 2013, Bill of Rights Day, the day after the Anniversary of Newtown. We plan to honor these victims by doing everything within our power to prevent misguided gun control laws from leaving Americans defenseless or worse victims.”
