Florida sheriffs push plan to protect concealed carry permit holders

The Florida Sheriffs Association announced a proposal Wednesday afternoon that would aim to ensure law abiding, concealed carry permit holders are protected from arrest for accidentally displaying a firearm.

According to a release, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri supports the proposal aimed at clarifying Florida laws related to inadvertent displays of firearms without legalizing complete open carry.

The proposal was presented as an alternative to open carry legislation bills and would require someone to intentionally and deliberately violate concealed carry always before they can be arrested.
