Fastest guns in the country

A local Wirtz family has uncovered a unique talent in the quick-growing sport of fast draw, all becoming champions in their respective classes.

“Whenever we have local people that do great things such as this, we are just so proud of them,” said Jeff Duncan (aka Ringo), Cowboy Fast Draw Association (CFDA) Regulator.

Their interest in the sport began a couple of years ago when Anthony Brazauskas accompanied a friend to the Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club (RRRC) to watch him compete in a defensive pistol competition.

A Marine veteran and avid backyard sport shooter, Brazauskas became hooked to fast draw as soon as he saw what the sport was all about.

“He talked about nothing for the next two months,” said his wife Brenda.

Brazauskas (aka BA) is currently Nevada state’s Men’s Traditional Champion and Virginia’s Champion overall. He took 11th place in the Fastest Gun Alive World Championship and 2nd place in the Men’s Traditional category. He is Old Dominion Fast Draw (ODFD) Club’s Champion and took 2nd place in the Powhatan Peacemakers Club Championship.
