Mission police said a couple reported they were threatened early Thursday morning by a masked man with an AK-47, but one of them was able to pull out his own weapon to fend off the threat.

There were no injuries reported and no items were taken during the incident, said Cpl. Manuel Casas, Mission police spokesman.

Casas said the victim, armed with his own handgun, was with his wife in the driveway of their home on the 900 block of Keystone Street when a masked gunman approached them. The victim said the passenger of a dark-colored, small car wore dark clothing and a grey ski mask as he approached them with a weapon.

“In Spanish, the person with the gun said ‘I’ve got you now’ or something like that,” Casas said.

The victim has a concealed handgun license, Casas said.

Police are searching for surveillance video and continue to investigate, he said.
