Teen Burglary Suspect Shot By Homeowner Identified

Detectives have identified the 17-year-old boy who was shot by a homeowner during an alleged burglary.

According to police, Richard “Ricky” J. Mitchell, 17, was shot by the resident of an apartment on the 4600 block of Stonecastle Drive during an apparent burglary on December 12.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said they are following up on additional information in an attempt to locate two other burglary suspects along with their vehicle.

Police said they do not anticipate charging the homeowner for the death of Mitchell.
