A man was caught red-handed trying to break into a car by a businessman with a gun.

Police say it happened Monday afternoon in front of a business on Chester Avenue at 5th Street.

The business owner who spotted the alleged burglar confronted him and held him at gunpoint until police arrived. Lt. Don Kreuger said the suspect was taken into custody and would be booked on vehicle burglary charges.

The businessman was detained briefly while police investigated the incident and then released.
