Students, FSU Police weigh-in on guns on college campuses

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–When it comes to the discussion of guns on college campuses, it’s a heated debate .

After a court ruling last month, public universities like Florida State University have to allow students to stow their guns away in their cars parked on campus.

“We still are enforcing weapons in residence halls and other statutes,” said Florida State University Police David Perry.

Perry says he is a gun supporter and believes in the right to bear arms but he says school is just not the place.

“In certain environments it’s just not feasible,” said Perry. “It’s just not a good mix. It’s just not the right environment for guns.
