Gun rights activists hold open carry march

LONGVIEW, TX – East Texans marched to protect their second amendment right to keep and bear arms, in an open carry march. Carrying their unloaded rifles, over 200 people walked through the streets of Longview to support gun rights.

“We’re coming together to exercise our right that our forefathers sacrificed their lives for,” says march organizer Stephen Lee.

“I think a right is like a muscle. If you don’t exercise it , it can whither away or be taken away easily,” says marcher John Cohagen.

Many marchers say fear sparks much of the anti-gun rhetoric.

“The legal gun owners are the ones you should be least afraid of. Its the ones that get those illegally,” Cohagen says.

“My opinion is the right to carry in the open, other states have it and it has not been an issue,” says White Oak marcher Carolyn McClish.
