Events planned for gun appreciation day

After a long week on the issue of guns with Vice President Joe Biden’s recommendations and President Obama’s executive orders, ironically today is Gun Appreciation Day.

Saturday is being described as a “peaceful picketing protest against any and all future gun legislation.”

Events will be taking place across the country. In the metro a rally will be held at the Bass Pro Shop in Independence from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Western Missouri Shooter’s Alliance spokesperson Kevin Jameson says this is a time to stand together. “It’s an opportunity for those of us in the shooting community to gather together and plan what we’re going to do to turn back these assaults on our rights,” says Jameson.

Other rallies will be held in Jefferson City and Topeka at the state capitals starting at noon on Saturday.
